Terms and Conditions
These are the terms you agree to when you book a patch test, a session or a course with The Skin Lab & Laser. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.
Contents
1. Who we are
The Skin Lab & Laser, a limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17192456, of 69b Sankey Street, Warrington, Cheshire WA1 1SL. Treatments are carried out by a practitioner qualified to NVQ Level 4 in Laser and Light Therapies.
2. The patch test
Every client has a patch test before any course begins. It is free, it takes about fifteen minutes, and it is not optional, laser reacts with pigment, and treating the wrong setting on the wrong skin type causes burns and pigment changes.
We wait at least 48 hours between the patch test and your first session. A patch test is valid for 12 months. After that, or if your circumstances change, new medication, pregnancy, a significant change in skin tone, we test again before treating you.
A patch test creates no obligation to book anything.
3. Booking
A booking is confirmed when we confirm it to you, not when you submit the enquiry form. Please arrive on time; if you arrive late we may have to shorten or reschedule the session, and the session will still be counted.
You must shave the treatment area 24 hours beforehand, and you must not wax, pluck, epilate or use hair-removal cream for four weeks before a session. If you have, we cannot treat you, and the appointment will be treated as a missed appointment under section 6.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are published in full on our pricing page. There is no consultation fee and no booking fee. The price you see is the price you pay.
Courses are paid in full before the first session of the course. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as cash..
We may change our prices, but a course you have already paid for is fixed at the price you paid, however long it takes to complete.
5. Courses and refunds
- Courses do not expire.
- Courses are for one named person and one named area. They cannot be transferred to another person or split across areas.
- If we finish your course early because you no longer need the remaining sessions, we refund those sessions. The refund is calculated at the course rate, not the single-session rate.
- If you choose to stop a course part way through, we refund the unused sessions at the course rate, less the difference between the course rate and the single-session rate for the sessions you have already had.
- Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days.
6. Cancelling and missed appointments
Please give us at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel an appointment. We hold that slot for you and cannot usually refill it at short notice.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled treatment cost.
We do not charge when you cancel because you are unwell, or because something has changed that makes treatment unsafe. Tell us, and we will move it.
7. Your right to change your mind
If you book a course by phone, email or through this website, rather than in person at the clinic, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel for any reason and get your money back.
If you ask us to start treatment within those 14 days, you keep the right to cancel, but we may charge you for the sessions already provided. Any patch test remains free.
8. When we cannot treat you
We will decline to treat, or stop treating, where it is not safe or not going to work. This includes:
- white, grey, red or very fine blond hair, which laser does not target
- pregnancy and breastfeeding
- a fresh tan, sunbed exposure within four weeks, or fake tan within two weeks
- photosensitising medication, including isotretinoin and some antibiotics
- an active infection, cold sore or broken skin in the treatment area
- any condition disclosed at the patch test that makes treatment unsafe
If we decline before you have paid, you pay nothing. If we decline part way through a paid course, we refund the unused sessions in full.
We treat clients aged 16 and 17 only with written consent from a parent or guardian, who must attend the patch test. We do not treat under-16s.
9. Results
Laser hair removal produces permanent hair reduction, not permanent removal. Most people need six to eight sessions per area and a top-up once or twice a year afterwards.
How your hair responds depends on your hair colour and thickness, your skin type, your hormones and factors we cannot see in advance. We give you a realistic estimate at the patch test and we will tell you if we think the number is going to be higher than usual. We cannot and do not guarantee a specific result, a specific percentage of reduction or a specific number of sessions.
10. Aftercare
You are responsible for following the aftercare instructions we give you, which are also published on our aftercare page. In summary: no heat for 48 hours, no fragranced products for 24 hours, SPF 50 daily for four weeks, and no waxing or plucking between sessions.
Reactions that do not settle by day three should be reported to us on 07398 896462.
11. Our responsibility to you
We will carry out your treatment with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses caused by your not following the aftercare instructions or not telling us something we asked about.
12. Complaints and law
If something goes wrong, tell us. Ring 07398 896462 or email hello@theskinlabandlaser.co.uk and we will respond within five working days.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
