Cookie Policy

This site uses a small number of cookies. Two are needed to make the site work. The rest are Google Analytics, which tells us which pages people actually read. We ask before we set those, and nothing on this site stops working if you say no.

1. What a cookie is

A small file a website stores on your device so it can recognise your browser next time. Some are essential, they remember that you are logged in, or that you dismissed a banner. Others count visits.

These are exempt from consent because the site cannot provide what you asked for without them.

Analytics, only set if you agree

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social media trackers or heatmap tools. If that changes, this page changes first.

3. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read, which get ignored, and roughly where in the country our visitors are. We use it to decide what to write next. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we have turned off Google Signals and advertising features.

Google processes this data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States, protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Google’s own privacy notice is at policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, by clicking the small floating cookie icon in the bottom corner of any page.. Withdrawing takes effect immediately and does not affect anything collected before.

5. Browser controls

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking everything will break parts of many websites, though not this one.

6. Changes

If we add or remove a cookie, this page is updated on the same day and the date at the top changes. How we handle the information behind these cookies is covered in our privacy policy.
